IAHSS Leadership Presents at the FHA Emergency Management Summit

At the 2025 FHA Emergency Management Summit that took place on April 8-9, 2025, at the Aloft Orlando Lake Nona, IAHSS Vice President/Secretary John Demming, MA, CHPA, CPP, had an opportunity to present.

John's session was called “Violence Mitigation in the Acute Care Setting” and he spoke about a three-pronged approach to handling workplace violence in hospitals through hospital policy, leveraging technology, and human solutions. 

The FHA Emergency Management Conference was hosted by the Florida Hospital Association in Orlando, FL. The attendees were primarily emergency managers, plant/facilities managers, supply chain leaders and executives.

This 2-day conference focused on black swan events and their overall disruption to hospital operations and life safety, and how hospital emergency managers can proactively minimize the impacts and further improve the outcomes from an event for the facility / system, the patients and caregivers, and the community.
