Most opportunities are one- or two-year terms, beginning on Jan. 1, 2026. 

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Attend all meetings and/ or participate in all conference calls; unless prior arrangements are made with the appropriate IAHSS team member
  • Complete all committee/task force assignments according to established timelines 
  • Abide by all IAHSS policies, procedures, rules and regulations, including the bylaws and the IAHSS Code of Ethics for the Security Professional
  • Act in accordance with the best interests of IAHSS at all times and report all actual or potential conflicts of interest to an appropriate IAHSS team member
  • Maintain IAHSS Membership

Affiliations Council
Council members identify, develop and maintain collaborations with industry organizations that are aligned with the IAHSS Mission and Strategic Plan. Collaborations may include identifying and/or preparing presentations at conferences, liaison with outside organizations, and speaking opportunities.
Timeframe/Commitment: Monthly virtual meetings, or more frequently if needed. Members will have work outside the monthly meetings.

Chapter Leadership Committee
All Chapter Leaders are members of this committee. Works focuses on IAHSS membership recruitment, retention and chapter support.
Timeframe/Commitment: Monthly virtual meetings, a virtual Chapter Leadership Summit and an in-person Chapter Leadership Summit at the Annual Conference. Members will have work outside the monthly meetings.

CHPA Subject Matter Experts
Members must have a CHPA designation. Work focuses on developing, reviewing and editing CHPA exam items and reviewing exam resources and references.
Timeframe/Commitment: All work will be done virtually, and will be based on the needs as determined by the Commission on Certification. Member should be knowledgeable in CHPA Exam Domains.

Commission on Certification
Members must have a CHPA designation. The Commission on Certification is responsible for developing and maintaining the CHPA program and exam, which includes policies, applications and best practices. It is also responsible for maintaining NCCA accreditation requirements.
Timeframe/Commitment: Monthly virtual 90 min meetings, an annual in-person meeting (typically held at the Annual Conference), and additional work outside of meetings. A minimum two-year commitment is required. 

Education Council
Responsible for the education and training endeavors of the IAHSS.
Timeframe/Commitment: Monthly virtual 90 min meetings, a two-day virtual or in-person meeting, and additional work outside of meetings.

Ethics Committee
Responsible for responding to and investigating reports of infractions of IAHSS code of ethics or the IAHSS member code of conduct.
Timeframe/Commitment: Meetings will take place virtually, as needed.

Governance Committee
To review IAHSS By-laws and Policies, and develop new policies as needed, for approval by the Board of Directors. 
Timeframe/Commitment: Meetings will take place virtually, as needed.

Guidelines Council
Members must have a CHPA designation. The COG is responsible for the creation and ongoing review of international healthcare security industry and design guidelines. The Council consists of ten IAHSS members that hold CHPA and have extensive industry knowledge and experience.  The council meetings timeframe commitments are 90-minute monthly virtual meetings, two-day mid-year face-to-face meeting, and two-day face-to-face meeting at AC&E. Learn More

IAHSS Foundation
The Foundation was established to foster and promote the welfare of the public through educational and scientific research and development of healthcare security and safety body of knowledge.
Timeframe/Commitment: Monthly virtual meetings, an in-person meeting at the IAHSS Annual Conference and attendance at the IAHSS Foundation Banquet. Additional work outside of meetings.

Industry Benchmarking Committee
Members should have an interest and knowledge of data analytics, data visualization or statistics. 
Timeframe/Commitment: Monthly virtual meetings; and additional work outside of meetings.

International Committee
Responsible for feedback and guidance related to the international efforts of IAHSS.
Timeframe/Commitment: Monthly virtual meetings. Additional work outside of meetings.

Journal of Healthcare Protection Management Committee
To support and promote the IAHSS Journal of Healthcare Protection Management, to include article review and establishing/maintaining a peer review process. 
Timeframe/Commitment: Monthly virtual meetings, additional work outside of meetings.

Nominations Committee 
All members shall be Certified Healthcare Protection Administrators and have a minimum of two years’ experience in a volunteer leadership role in IAHSS at either the local, regional or international level. Members will be responsible for ensuring candidate meeting eligibility standards, conduct interviews, develop an election slate.
Timeframe/Commitment: Virtual meetings in Q3 and Q4. Additional work outside of meetings.
