The International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) is pleased to announce that the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) has granted accreditation to the Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) Certification Program.
NCCA accreditation provides impartial, third-party validation that the CHPA program meets or exceeds recognized national credentialing industry standards for development, implementation, and maintenance. The CHPA Program underwent NCCA’s extensive review process to demonstrate compliance with NCCA Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs.
“The IAHSS Board of Directors and the IAHSS Commission on Certification are committed to advancing the professionalism of the Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) Certification Program,” said IAHSS President Paul Sarnese, CHPA, CAPM, MSE, MAS. “The accreditation of the CHPA program reinforces our dedication to develop and maintain the premier certification in the healthcare security, safety and emergency management industry.”
The IAHSS Board of Directors would like to thank the IAHSS Commission on Certification for their leadership and commitment to achieving the NCCA accreditation. In addition, the Board would like to thank IAHSS Past Presidents, past and present Board members, past and present Commission members, IAHSS members, IAHSS Chapter Leaders, item writers, volunteers and IAHSS staff for working in alignment to achieve this multi-year goal.

About NCCA
NCCA uses a peer review process to: establish accreditation standards; evaluate compliance with the standards; recognize programs which demonstrate compliance; and serve as a resource on quality certification. The standards address all facets of the program activities including governance, development, interaction with stakeholders, psychometric integrity of the certification process and certification maintenance. To date, NCCA has accredited more than 315 programs from 130 organizations.
NCCA was created in 1987 by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) to help ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the public through the accreditation of certification and credentialing programs that assess professional competence. Certification and credentialing programs that receive NCCA Accreditation demonstrate compliance with the NCCA’s Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs.
