Message from IAHSS President Paul Sarnese
Thursday, March 18, 2021
Members, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your commitment and dedication to serving others over the last year. Over the last twelve months, we all experienced moments of sorrow and grief that caused incredible physical and emotional stress. There were also numerous moments of togetherness, compassion, ingenuity, comradery, and triumph. These moments will influence us personally and professionally for the rest of our lives. We weathered the storm of a worldwide pandemic, an economic crisis, numerous natural disasters, and civil and political unrest. These events provided us with the opportunity to demonstrate, yet again, the exceptional value we bring to our organizations and the importance of the safety, security, and emergency preparedness profession. You and your teams worked long days, performed nontraditional tasks and supported each other, your organization and your community to prepare and respond to the ever-changing landscape. It was truly amazing to witness all of the positive changes that have resulted from the incredibly challenging last twelve months. Our profession and our industry will continue to have challenges, and we will continue to step up to the challenges and demonstrate the value of our profession. The events that we weathered have made us resilient and have shown us that when we work together for a common cause we can accomplish anything. We are all in this together, and IAHSS is here for you. We will be with you every step of the way. We will continue to share best practices, present and discuss industry trends, provide top-notch education and industry guidelines to help you navigate the new world in which we live and work. Thank you for everything you do to ensure that our healthcare systems are safe, secure and prepared. Sincerely, Paul Sarnese, CHPA, CAPM, MSE, MAS IAHSS President Virtua Health, Assistant Vice President of Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness
