Description: Community violence is a public health issue. Dr. Rogers will describe the
limits of the biomedical treatment of victims of intentional violence. He will discuss
challenges and opportunities related to post-acute care and describe the broader roles
that surgeons and health systems may play in addressing violence as a disease. Attendees should
emerge from this session with a better understanding of how to address this growing
problem within their own institutions.
