IAHSS Security Design Guidelines for Healthcare Facilities, 3rd Edition
The 3rd edition of the SDGHF was developed in 2020 using the original methodology established for the 1st edition that included the expertise of a multidisciplinary team of Subject Matter Experts to update the existing document and develop new guidance for emerging areas within the healthcare environment including stand-alone Emergency Departments, Urgent Care and Surgical care facilities; Residential Long Tern Care Facilities; and ED based Behavioral Health Facilities.

IAHSS is committed to reducing workplace violence. As part of our effort, we have created a convenient bundle with select Guidelines from the
IAHSS Healthcare Security Industry Guidelines and the
IAHSS Security Design Guidelines for Healthcare Facilities.
This convenient online Bundle has 20 select Guidelines, that are focused on supporting a workplace violence prevention approach to healthcare security and safety.

IAHSS will make a few Industry Guidelines available to the public at various times to address timely concerns, to share our knowledge with affiliated organizations, or to inform the public about new Guidelines that have been developed. Those Guidelines are included in the library below and will regularly change. The full set of Industry Guidelines are available in the file library further below on this page; however, they are only accessible by IAHSS members who are signed into the website.
