4. Get a Proclamation Passed in your State or Province. 

Attaining a proclamation can be easy! Here are some Tips for Proclamations:

  • Call the office or visit the website of your Governor/ Leader and ask how proclamations are issued.
    • Proclamation process could take a few months but many states/provinces issue proclamations in sixty days.
  • Contact local officials (i.e. mayor, city/state/province officials) by calling their offices or writing letterd
    • Letters to the governor from local IAHSS Chapters and members will demonstrate statewide interest and support of a proclamation
  • When a proclamation is issued, express your thanks and appreciation.
    • Include the governor or mayor in ceremonies planned for the week.
    • Inform the media about the official attention you have received.
    • Send a letter of appreciation to the official after the week's activities are over. 

Be sure to submit your proclamation at least sixty (60) days prior to October 14, 2018.
