Colleen Kucera Earns Certified Association Executive (CAE®) Credential

Glendale Heights, IL – ASAE has announced that Colleen Kucera, Executive Director of the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS), has earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE®) designation.  The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry.

To be designated as a Certified Association Executive, an applicant must have a minimum of three years experience with nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 100 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics.  To maintain the certification, individuals must undertake ongoing professional development and activities in association and nonprofit management.  More than 4,000 association professionals currently hold the CAE credential.  The CAE Program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

Ms. Kucera has served as the Executive Director for IAHSS for nearly two years.  She began her association management career with SmithBucklin Corporation, an association management firm that provides full-service management and outsourcing services to 450+ trade associations, professional societies, government institutes/agencies and other non-profit organizations.  Kucera spent her early career as a business consultant with Arthur Anderson and Huron Consulting. A native of Toledo, OH, Kucera currently resides in Arlington Heights, IL. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio.

“Upon returning to the nonprofit association community in 2014, I was eager to achieve my CAE, and I was grateful to have the full support and encouragement of the IAHSS Board of Directors.  The study course that I completed through the Association Forum of Chicagoland helped to prepare me for the CAE exam and guide my studies.  Throughout the duration of the course and my independent studies, I was able to bring useful knowledge and ideas back to the IAHSS staff and leadership on a weekly basis that was directly applicable to our work.  It was encouraging and motivating to see that the study materials and the exam are truly based on realistic principles and practical applications in association management.” says Kucera.
