Distinguished CHPA®
Share |

IAHSS congratulates the following Distinguished CHPAs who consistently maintained their CHPA® certifications for more than 18 years.  All Distinguished CHPAs have the opportunity to recertify at no charge for their 7th and all subsequent recertifications.  The recertification applications must be completed and approved by the Commission in order to maintain an active CHPA status.

Note: Distinguished CHPAs may or may not be current, active CHPAs.

*Asterisks denote CHPA lifetime designation (CHPA-L®). CHPA-L designation was granted to individuals who achieved at least six (6) consecutive recertifications as a CHPA, and who met a number of other specific criteria related to leadership and expertise in the healthcare security and safety industry, as was previously determined by the Commission on Certification. The CHPA-L designation is no longer available and those who hold a CHPA-L do not hold the same rights and responsibilities as a current CHPA, which requires renewal every three years by meeting recertification requirements. Those individuals who earned the CHPA-L designation may continue to use it, although there is no recertification requirement to hold this designation.

In 2016, the Commission on Certification discontinued the CHPA-L program for new candidates because the current structure of the program conflicted with standards for accreditation.  It is a strategic objective of IAHSS to attain accreditation for the CHPA, hopefully by 2019 or 2020.  Accreditation standards required that all “active” certifications include regular educational activities and experience in the industry, which need to be documented by renewing the credential on a regular basis.

The CHPA Fellow Program (CHPA-F®) was initiated in the 1980s to recognize individuals who had been certified as a CHPA for four years and who also satisfied a number of other criteria including writing a research paper approved for this special designation. Once the CHPA-F status was achieved, those candidates were required to renew their CHPA-F status every five years. That program was discontinued in 2010.

IAHSS would like to recognize the accomplishments of the following professionals who achieved the CHPA® Fellow (CHPA-F) status prior to its discontinuation:

Philip Nielsen -  2003
Anthony Potter - 2003
Fredrick Roll - 1996
